Fal Sewing Projects

I know halloween is approaching. Not a huge fan of it, but I am a fan of autumn themed projects. The pumpkins, the brightly colored leaves on the the trees, and cute furry creatures getting ready to hibernate. Here are some links I found that have projects that celebrate autumn.

Spring!

Ah...Spring. My favorite season of the year. To celebrate the time of new growth, warmer weather, and just blooming colors, I have just order the Self Watering Cascade Planter from Gardeners Supply website.

I plan to growth some of my favorite herbs like lemon verbena, basil, rosemary, thyme and marjoram on the bottom and some lettuce greens on top. I'm very exited about the promise of fresh grown greens! I only wish I could have a proper garden at my condo, but I will take gardening in any form I can get.

March 2009 Genoa Quilting Retreat

Many thanks to my friend Vicki for putting together our retreat. It was quite productive. I finally quilted my friend Mikie's Christmas table runner...but "DOH!" I realized one of the ornaments is going in the wrong direction!

Then I finished some piece work for my black, white and red quilt. Who will receive this thing of beauty? Only time will tell!

I also learned how to make those quite grocery bags. I cut out the pieces, but didn't get to finish sewing it together. I will post that hopefully this weekend!

Quilting Retreat!

Ok...so I am so behind on quilting. I am working diligently on some new quilt tops. And, I am waiting anxiously to try this quilting frame using pipes. My friend Vicki from Accio Fabrics! has it and hasn't really tried it. So, since I have very limited space at home, I thought I'd give is a try. Anything to avoid pinning.

Well, I finished the pieced runner for my friend Mikie, I just need to quilt it now. I have a nice black and white with red accent squares quilt I'm piecing together (basically a nine patch with a big patch). I was going to give it to someone, but now I think it would best go to someone who needs a lot more encouraging.

I also want to the same pattern for my sister who's quilt will be made up of pinks and purple batiks. I'm dying to see how that one goes!
