Christmas gifts

So I have officially started my Christmas gift creations. One quilted table runner for my friend Mikie who has been graciously hosting our small group bible study at her home. I have three more quilts planned...one for my mom, I started on one for my sister a while ago but I am taking a while on the applique, and one more for my friend Julie who has been going through some rough patches lately. Then, hopefully, before the end of the year is out, I'm going to try and make two more for two other friends of mine. Gotta make sure they stay warm for the winter.

Yay! Quilting is such a treat.

No fun for Sophie, but there's hope

So, it looks like I can't go to an annual quilt retreat. I'm very upset but this has motivated me into getting my sewing space cleaned up, geared up and humming with some sewing! I need a break from all the knitting I've been doing anyways.

Ladies of the Genoa Quilting Retreat...have tons of fun. I will be there in spirit.

Quilting has gone into holding pattern, knitting in it's place

So since quilting has taken a hiatus until the room is reorganized, I have been knitting up a storm! I have 5...yes 5 projects and 4 that are hibernating. I keep getting bored with doing the same pattern and needed variety so I kept starting a project, putting it down and picking up another one. One day I can say I have a bunch of FOs!

The patterns I am tackling are:

Button lace bolster pillow
Oriel lace scarf
Sunset Voyager scarf
An Entrelac scarf
Blue Swallowtail Shawl

The projects are listed on my Ravelry page.

WAAAAAAH!

Still no luck getting time to quilt! My room is still messy but slowly coming together. Instead, I've gone back to knitting as it's very portable and easy to take around with me any where. I did get my invitation to the Walcamp quilting retreat! I'm sooooooooooo looking forward to the retreat!

Still on standby...

Yup, my house is a disaster and my quilting supplies are under a pile of "stuff. " Every evening I have taken on the task to make a dent into my pile and slowly dig out my quilting space. I got a new bed, so that created another new pile of stuff. What's great is now I have more room to work with! I will have to re-arrange my room like a studio apartment. My office, my arts/sewing studio and mini livingroom. If you are great at space allocation, please let me know. Would love some help in trying to figure out how to rearrange my bedroom.

Til next time...quilt on my friends!

Quilting still on standby...

So I just ran my first half marathon and going to do another one...I have no clue why I am doing this to myself again. Anyways, between my sister moving in, trying to see clients, getting ready for a presentation and trying to gather all the stuff I want to sell at the sub-division sidewalk sale...I haven't been able to do any quilting! Sigh.

Hopefully after the sidewalk sale, I'll get some quilting time in

Good and bad...

Boy oh boy! I've been busy with my business ( I help people/families with financial counseling, education and retirement savings). Things have picked up quite a bit! It's great my business is doing so well, but then comes the sacrifices. My knitting and quilting has gone on hiatus for a while. I have one quilt that is ready to be quilted...it's a baby quilt for a friend who just had her first baby. I was hoping to get that done before the baby came, but the way my schedule has been, I'm going to be giving it to her a little late. Congrats to Katie and Marc!

On top of all that, my sister has moved in with her two dogs. Let's say if I knew how to spin fibers, I'd have enough dog hair to spin a lot of skeins of yarn.

I also purchased this handy-dandy binder foot for quilts, but I have yet to try it out. I did however catalog my knitting needles on Ravelry.com. Very cool tools for all you knitters out there.

Well, until I can get some time to blog and share my projects, have fun all you creative people!

I miss you!

Life can get so busy. You forget what it means to relax sometimes. Then you realize that you haven't quilted or knitted a thing for more than a month! You look around and you see cluttered messes all over your sewing area. A sweater thrown there. Pants over your chair. Unfinished quilts piled on top of your sewing machine.

What happened? Sigh. Unfortunately that's life for you. Things happen all of a sudden and take you away on different paths. You decide to run marathons. Your business picks up. You pass out from businessness at the end of the day. You crawl-drag-kick yourself out of bed in the wee hours of the morning.

As soon as it can happen, this chick needs to get some rest.

Spent money again!

Went to the International Quilting Convention at Rosemont and bought some new purse/bag patterns, a kit for a table runner, new rubbing plates, teflon sheet, and got ideas for new quilts! I can't wait until I can set some time to tackle these projects!

No quilting leads to stressed out gal

So I'm taking my state securites license exam and it's taking me away from quilting. GRR! I need some time to blow off some steam with a little quilting but I gotta study to pass this thing. God knows that I need every moment to study but I miss quilting! *Sniff-sniff*

Yeha...I'm weak

Ok, so in my previous blog entry, I said I would hold off from getting any new fabric. That didn't last long. As soon as I saw this quilt, I bought the kit from Quaker Town Quilts. What can I say, I'm a crazy quilter.

Too many unfinished projects

I swear I wouldn't let it happen. I told myself, no new fabrics until I finished a project, yet how did I get to 4 unfinished quilt tops and an armoire full of beautiful fabrics? It's a sickness. I'm stopping all shopping until my projects are done. I'm resolved. I'm determined...so many beautiful designs...so little time in the day.

Scrappy 9 Patches

So, a couple of nights ago, I got inspired to do something with my scraps from my Moda Spring Fling Jelly Roll. I decided on 9 patches and it took me 2 nights to finish them. So, I think I will be doing a miniature quilt. Not sure yet how I'll lay them out yet, but stay tuned!

I just made a version of this door hanging for a Valentines' Day gift/card exchange at work. I'll upload my version as soon as I can find my digital camera.

Got it from an article at http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/blog/?p=964
